HOLLAND "WHIT" WHITNEY passed away July 4, 2005, with
interment at DFW National Cemetery.
He was born on March 28, 1928 in Minter, TX to Charlie
& Pearl Whitney. Whit devoted 21 years to serving his
country in the USAF, on assignments throughout the world.
He met Rose, his wife of more than 50 years, while stationed
in England. Whit spent his second career with AT&T in Mesquite,
but his true life's work was serving others. Whether it was
a request from his family, neighbors, or even a stranger,
Whit always had the desire and found a way to help meet a
need. No one passed Whit on the street without receiving a
smile and a kind word. Whit received his greatest pleasure
from spending time with his family, but it doesn't compare
to the joy he brought to them. Whit was preceded in death
by his parents and a brother, Gayle.
At the time of his death, he was survived by family members
who consider themselves greatly blessed to have had Whit in
their lives, including: wife, Rose; children, Glynn Whitney,
Dale & Debra Whitney and Dawn Whitney Tomlinson; grandchildren,
Sasha, Waylon, Jason, Michelle, Michael and Stephanie; & great-
grandchildren, Ana and Jacob.
