Dallas Works Memorial- Employees In Remembrance

Doris Shankle DORIS JEAN GILLIHAN SHANKLE transcended the boundaries of this world to return to live with her Heavenly Father on Jan 23, 2009, after 58 amazing years of love and service. She will be dearly missed by her husband and loving companion, Marcus Ledley Shankle, her two children, Bradley Wade Shankle & Julie Elizabeth Shankle, her mother Mary Walker, two brothers, Larry Gillihan and Ronny Gillihan, four nieces, Christy Daniels, Tina Gillihan, Jennifer Gillihan, and Pique Shankle, and four nephews Shawn Shankle, Tony Gillihan, Larry Wayne Gillihan, and Ronnie Shankle. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend since the 8th grade, Nancy Ann Ware. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Dean Gillihan and older brother, Dennis Gillihan. Doris worked for Lineage Power in Mesquite, TX where she served for nearly 40 years. Her managers and coworkers depended on her dutiful work ethic and mothering ways. Undoubtedly, they have lost a valuable colleague and friend. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale in Sunnyvale, Texas where she enjoyed spiritual fellow- ship and many friends. Doris kept her relationship with God very personal but quietly shared it through her unyielding compassion to others. She was the embodiment of self sacrifice and service, and there is no one who met her who was not touched by her delightful charm, her loving and kind demeanor, and her continued desires to better the lives of all those around her. She had a lifetime of people who were strengthened and supported by her giving nature. She is now on the most important trip of her life: to go home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now taking care of things in Heaven preparing to one day see us again.
