ANDY COTTON BOYD died on Jan. 3, 2020 at his farm
in Ottawa, KS just two weeks before his 77th birthday.
He had played golf just the day before. He was found
outside on the farm where he had been working on a
greenhouse and had suddenly passed from his heart
stopping.
Andy was born in Lawrence, KS to Richard & Grace Boyd
on Jan. 27, 1943. He has two brothers who still live
in Kansas, Tom and Bob. He attended Lawrence High
School, Kansas University, then onto Pittsburg State
University where he received his BS in Electrical
Engineering. His first and only job was for nearly
30 years in the AT&T system before he “retired” and
moved around between Dallas, Beijing, New Jersey,
Virginia, and Kansas.
Andy loved keeping his mind sharp by building, creating
and mending his hobby farm in Kansas. He passed while
doing exactly what he loved.
Andy is survived by his wife, Shirley Sun, sons Jack
Boyd (Kansas City, KS) and Ross Boyd (Dallas, TX),
daughter Rachel Boyd (Dallas, TX), stepdaughter
Sommer Austin (Austin, TX), and grandchildren Will,
Wyatt, Riley, Pan and Rory.
