George Crossland GEORGE ANTHONY CROSSLAND was born on Sept. 14, 1934, in Kansas City, KS to Irene Sieger & William Crossland. He went to be with his Lord on March 16, 2021, in Mesquite, TX. George was preceded by his mother, Irene Sieger, and father, William Crossland; sisters, Irene Roberts, Mary Cheesman, and Millie Sonnenschien; brother, William Crossland, and son, Kevin Crossland. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruby Crossland; sons, George Crossland II, and Shaun Crossland and wife, Donita; and a number of grandchildren and great-grand- children; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Karen. George graduated from Ward High School in Kansas. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and served until 1958, then he was in the reserves. After serving his country, then went to work at Western Electric AT&T in Lee’s Summit, MO as a production engineer until it closed down. He transferred to the Radford, VA plant for a year and when it closed, he transferred to the Mesquite, TX plant where he worked there until he retired with 35 years of perfect attendance in 1996. After retirement, Lucent asked George to come back to help close the plant down, pack and ship the machines & equipment back to Matamoros, Mexico. When the Matamoros plant closed, Lucent again asked George to close the plant down, pack and ship the machines and equipment to China. George loved his church. He served Mass and helped the priest with funerals. He was very active in Knights of Columbus, holding several offices in both the Knights of Columbus and the Color Corp. When his health declined, he was unable to participate in church. Even when his Parkinson's Dementia caused him to not know his family and friends, he still knew he was a Catholic and that he wanted a Catholic funeral. He was kind and loving and will be missed by family and his church family.
