Ray Rene RAYMOND "RAY" RENE, 68, of Plano, TX passed away July 9, 2024, with burial in Ridgeview Cemeter at Allen, TX. He was born to Antoinier René & Anita LeClerc on July 28, 1955, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Raymond was one of six siblings born and raised in Haiti. He completed primary and secondary school there, before moving to New York to attain his higher education and technical training. He graduated from Bronx Community College in New York, and Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. While in school, Raymond married Nina Warren and was blessed with the birth of his first son, Vladmir and his “favorite/only” daughter, Natacha. After several years together, the union of Raymond and Nina came to an amicable end. Raymond commenced his professional life at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. Throughout his illustrious career, Raymond, an electrical engineer by trade, was awarded multiple patents for his research, innovations, and inventions in the telecommunications industry. Some years later, while attending a Haitian community ball in Connecticut, Raymond met the love of his life, Marie-Frantz Tomolien. They married in March of 1990 and were blessed with two sons, Anthony and Stephan. Raymond’s work would eventually bring him to North Texas, where he worked for Lucent Technologies, Lineage Power, and GE. Raymond and his young family settled in Richardson, TX, where they remained for 15 years. The family then relocated to Plano, TX, where they’ve lived for the past 19 years. Raymond was a valued and respected member of and leader in his community. Often, his knowledge, wisdom, and advice were sought out by friends, family and colleagues alike. Raymond always kept current with world news, politics, economics, and current events. He belonged to several professional and community organizations & participated in countless charitable endeavors. He was a polyglot, an avid chess player and a sports enthusiast, especially soccer and tennis. Raymond was ceaselessly devoted to his Catholic faith, his immediate as well as extended family, and friends far and wide. Earlier this year, Raymond lost his eldest son, Vladimir, to inexplicable, senseless violence. This event was a contemptible tragedy that affected Raymond and the entire family in a very deep and profound way. He was mourning the death of his first born when serious illness befell him. That illness, coupled with a broken heart, proved too much to overcome. We celebrate and cherish both of their lives, the time we were granted with them, and their memory forever. Raymond is survived by his wife, Marie-Frantz “Frantzie” René of Plano, TX; daughter, Natacha René (Oneil Howe) of Little Elm, TX; son, Anthony René of Irving, TX; son, Stephan René of Houston, TX; grandsons, Michael Munroe and Gabriel René of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters, Anne Marie Guerrier (Jude) of Coral Springs, FL; Hortense René of Selden, NY; brothers, Jean Robert René (Margarette) of Nyack, NY; Alix René of Miami, FL; aunt, Erna LaFontant; nephews, Clifford, Kendall, Jean Robert, Gregory, Alex, Fabrice, Olivier; niece, Stephanie; cousins, Felix Sr., Merilia, Mathilde, Serge Joseph, Carline Osselin; best friends Bill Onibudo, Roosevelt Carr, and many other family members, and friends.
