Phil Lombard PHILIP ARLAN LOMBARD passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Phil was born on July 15, 1936, in Wichita, KS to Ernest H. Lombard & Leta E. (Green) Lombard. He spent his early years in Wichita, KS, before moving to Oklahoma City, OK, where he attended Putnam City schools. Following his high school education, Phil received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Central State College in Edmond, OK. He later earned an MBA in Industrial Management from Oklahoma City University. Phil was a member of the 205th Air National Guard located in Oklahoma City, where he was a member of the telephone flight. He began working for Western Electric in Oklahoma City in 1961 and transferred to the Mesquite plant in 1971. He retired in 1996 after 33 years of service. He and Gail Aupperle were married in Lyman, OK in 1961. Their son John was born in 1967, and daughter Jan was born in 1969. Phil raised Shorthorn and Red Angus cattle, was active with his children in the Rockwall 4-H Club, and was a member of the board of the Rockwall Youth Livestock Show. With his children, he participated in the YMCA Indian and Indian Princesses programs, and he was a member of the YMCA Board of Directors. Phil was a private pilot and once rebuilt a salvaged 1961 Ercoupe in Oklahoma City with his close friend, Jimmy Lunsford. Phil was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall and the J. E. Wilson Sunday School Class for over 50 years. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leslie and Elvan, and his sister Carole. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Gail Lombard; daughter Jan Lombard; son John Lombard and wife Karen, and grand- children, Kayla, Jack, Ethan, and Travis Lombard. Phil was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, whose love and wisdom will be deeply missed.
